Assignment 4a

Olafur Eliasson’s article discusses how people and objects interact and impact one another through time, but not necessarily time as you would normally think of it. Eliasson looks at time as part of an object or person, such as a leg to a chair or an arm to a person. When I implement this kind of idea to my thought process; I see that it is not what is designed as much as how it is originally presented or displayed. It depends on what the occupants or viewers of the building bring to the space.

Koolhaas article discusses the need for preservation and when that preservation to take place. Every architect wants his or her work to be preserved, with Koolhaas’s pint of view architects would be able to predict the long-term impact of their work, as it is being done or completed. At this point people have already been impacted by the building or space as well as having impacted the building or space it self. This all increasing the need for emendate conversation or conflict around the building that can prove there is something worth preserving.
