When reflecting upon the ideas laid out in the mind maps, I observed that a common thread among all of them is the play of one thing against another. This observation interestingly implies the existence of more than one element or idea with the importance being the relationship between them. The potential effects that two (or more) factors have upon one another are evident under each theme. The various ways in which things relate, how they relate, why they relate, and a questioning of what their relationship means are all core ideas of each map. I also observed the repeated use of a few words across multiple ideas; context, landscape, harmony, and abstraction being a few.
Furthermore, even if a core idea began as something “actual” it almost always turned into something theoretical or philosophical. Perhaps the connection between the “real” and perceptive components in architecture is another relationship to explore.
