Reflection |

After completing this assignment, I realized how powerful one word, or a series of words, can be. By choosing Contrast, Depth, and Light, I also chose shadow, procession, movement, photography, and technique, along with a plethora of others. The beauty of the architectural language and way of being is that so many ideas and concepts can blend and merge to help one another. I believe that my ideas have significantly grown within the past week while looking into the different ways in which a word can be supported. Contrast is now not only black and white, but also it is the way in which a person gets from one extreme to the other, and how it can be experienced. Depth is no longer simply a quality of a photograph or a perspective; it is also the way a person sees into a building or beyond what is directly in front of them. Overall, I believe that clarity in the way my mind is working is slowly coming to me. I believe that by continuing to dive deeper into the meaning of these ideas, a solid thesis may soon come to fruition.

Depth |

By what aspects of architecture are depth perceived?

How can depths be suggested but not shown?

What makes the inclusion of depth so important?

Does the depth represent the movement that follows the viewing?

Light |

Why does light affect the people inhabiting a space so greatly?

How can light be utilized in a way that is powerful yet non-intrusive?

How can natural light and man made light be incorporated successfully together?

Does light have the ability to control feelings?
